Karen White, Chief

Karen White was born in the Mi’kmaq village of “Seal Rocks”.  Karen’s hope for the future is that all the people of Mi’kmaq descent will receive their status.

Violet Benoit Dawson, Spiritual Leader
Text Box: Violet was born in the historic Mi’kmaq community of “Seal Rocks” and is the daughter of Harold and Laura Bennett/Benoit. Presently, she is serving as the Spiritual Leader of the St. George’s Indian Band

Shelley Garnier, Secretary
Text Box: Shelley was born in Stephenville Crossing, NL to Genevieve (Gen) and Albert (Bun) Garnier. Shelley is presently the Treasurer of the St. George’s Indian Band;

June Galpin (nee White) is a director on the Board of Directors for the St. George’s Indian Band.   June has devoted many hours of volunteer time to genealogical and historical research for the Band Council.

Gillian Lee, Youth Representative
Text Box: Gillian Lee is the daughter of Jeffrey and Mary Lee. Gillian has stepped down as our Youth Director because she has left the province. The St. George’s Indian Band would like to thank Gillian for all her help in the past and we wish her luck in the future.

Mary Garnier, Treasurer
Text Box: Mary was born at Black Duck Siding, the daughter of Bun and Gen Garnier. She was reared in St. George’s and is proud to have always called it home.

Marlene Farrell, Vice Chief
Text Box: Marlene Farrell was born in Stephenville Crossing, NL,the daughter of Walter and Ulva Gallant. Marlene is very interested in the cultural activities of the Mi’kmaq People.

Yvonne MacDonald, Director

Yvonne MacDonald  is a director on the Board of Directors for the St. George’s Indian Band.   Yvonne MacDonald  was born and raised in St. George’s, NL, on Steel Mountain Road.
